JOB TITLE: Shift Maintenance Engineer



DEPARTMENT: PRODUCTION



POSITION REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE ENGINEER



JOB PURPOSE:

Working on production shifts, to ensure that production process issues are solved during the shift and to support this implementation of new processes and equipment. To ensure that our client is able to produce product seamlessly 24 hrs per day. The ensure the feedback issues to the production management team and support continuous improvement activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1 Ownership of our clients manufacturing processes during shift working hours
2 Carrying out of routine preventative maintenance activities.
3 To be the operator's first call for when process issues arise.
4 To identify and support areas of improvement in the production process.
5 To develop jigs, fixtures and other tooling.
6 Support of the installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.
7 Identification and implementation of improvements to manufacturing set-up, process, product cost and quality based on evaluation of process and product performance data.
8 Root-cause investigation into process related yield and quality issues. Including workmanship, assembly methods, mechanical design and non-conforming material.
9 Creation and management of manufacturing documentation including process flows, method sheets, work breakdown and validation requirement/results.
10 Determination of validation requirements for, and performs validation of, manufacturing processes in a production or design environment.
11 Coordination of Manufacturing Engineers and Designers in ensuring good Design for Manufacturability is adhered to during product design process.
12 Perform training and mentoring on manufacturing methods, standards and activities for opertors



PERSON-PROFILE REQUIREMENTS:

Education

Formal Apprenticeship or HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Experience

Typically 5 - 10 years working in a Process Manufacturing environment.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Advanced knowledge of Electronic or Mechanical equipment maintenance
* Knowledge of extrusion technology and equipment.
* Good knowledge and understanding of assembly methodologies.
* Advanced knowledge of Industrial Engineering principles - SMED, Lean, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Design for Manufacture.
* Ability to apply knowledge of manufacturing theory to practical applications.
* Effective communication skills that clearly convey information and ideas. Ability to communicate to individuals or groups through a variety of media in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand the information.
* Ability to use Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Visio software programs, to a level of professional proficiency. Able to produce professional reports including introductions, conclusions and recommendations.
* Ability to analyse and resolve highly complex technical problems quickly and independently, based on analysis and factual evidence.
* Takes responsibility - Accepts responsibility for outcomes (positive or negative) for one's work; admits mistakes and refocuses efforts when appropriate.
Salary: 32000 per annum
