Full time/permanent

An exciting opportunity to play a key role in a modern and dynamic internal machine shop producing high precision components for an international sensor manufacturer.

Our client is a leading manufacturer of specialist safety monitoring instruments used by the construction industry worldwide.

The company has an international reputation for its high precision instrumentation, which is used in structures such as dams, mines, foundations and buildings. Our client has a wide customer base, including many large multi-national customers.

All components made in the machine shop are for use internally by the production department. Parts are manfactured to high tolerances, using a variety of materials including some exotics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to work alongside our Machine Shop supervisor.

You will need at least 5 years experience as CNC Turner-Setter operator, have a strong engineering and manufacturing skill set gained in a high quality precision engineering environment. Any further on-the-job training will be provided.

Our client believes in investing and retaining its workforce and is looking for a similar level of long-term commitment from candidates.

A typical day might include:

* Manufacturing machined components to engineering drawings using set work instructions and schedules.
* Working to production targets maintaining accurate quality records and documentation.
* Using manual inspection equipment to perform quality checks using various engineering and workshop equipment when required.
* Providing solution to engineering problems and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate:

* Experienced CNC turner (preferably C, Y & live tooling but not essential)
* Experience with conventional machines milling and turning.
* Ability to set, operate and program a CNC lathe.
* Ability to program and interpret Fanuc controllers with confidence.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
* Ability to consistently work to a high level of accuracy (tolerance 0.02mm).
* Ability to read and understand precision measuring equipment.
* Ability to work unsupervised following training.
* Precision engineering experience.
* Able to work in a team.
* Able to meet deadlines.
* Sense of pride in work.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.


Based in our modern purpose-built office in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, with good links to the City of London plus London airports by road and rail.


£22,000 to £27,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Salary: 27000 per annum
