Job description:
My client, one of the most recognised organisations in the UK have an opportunity for an expert IT Technical Architect to work in their Westminster based offices. The IT Department has undergone a radical transformation. IT now executes a mixture of on-premise, Cloud and 3rd party sourced IT services, in an entirely new and modern IT infrastructure that utilises the latest technologies. The IT function serves 600 and aims to adopt common solutions where practical. IT provides a broad range of customer focused IT services.

JOB SUMMARY: Contribute to and comply with IT Technical Architecture, Roadmaps and Design Authority, develop secure, common, integrated new generation IT solutions for a broad range of IT services e.g. Microsoft AD, Exchange, O365, RDP, CRM, SharePoint and SQL Databases, Virtualisation with HyperV, Azure, VMWare, VCloud, Enterprise Storage, Web Hosting and Voice and Data Networks, undertake IT upgrades, maintenance, capacity management, technical consultancy and support, work with IT colleagues, projects and 3rd parties to carry out impact assessments.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support the Head of Technical Architecture to implement and manage the Technical Architecture and associated IT Roadmap and perform the design authority role to ensure compliance and adherence to IT Strategy which underpins the organisations overall vision and goals
* Provide technical consultancy and support across a broad technology spectrum and new generation IT Microsoft AD, Exchange, O365, Windows and Server, Virtualisation using VMWare, HyperV, Azure and Vcloud, Citrix, Telephony, Video & Audio, Desktop, Applications, Databases, Voice & Data Networks, SQL Databases, Systems Management, Capacity Management, Network Security and Web Hosting
* Lead in-house support for SAP Finance, ResourceLink HR, UPM Pensions and CALM Records Management Systems all outsourced to 3rd parties and CRM and SharePoint server admin
* Work with departments to deliver their requirements successfully and with 3rd parties, projects and other IT colleagues to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and service levels met
* Conduct a mix of architecture, systems and business analysis and produce functional specifications and solution designs that effectively meet business requirements and needs
* Ensure the 'as-is' application landscape is captured and the 'to-be' application landscape is defined and impacted at scoping stage including 3rd party interfaces
* Define the scope of solutions, produce clear technical design documentation and diagrams and ensure they fit with the overall systems architecture
* Undertake impact assessments in response to change requests and emerging IT solutions and pprovide in-depth analysis of options and take the lead on design and build as required
* Active involvement in vendor selection processes, IT procurements and projects delivering solutions that need to integrate with IT infrastructure platform
* Conduct monthly maintenance and daily checks and take the appropriate remedial action in conjunction with senior management and change control processes
* Produce monthly and adhoc reports on capacity and resource usage e.g. alerts, user devices, applications and software by category, server utilization and certificates due to expire
* Create technical standards and IT security documentation and work with projects, colleagues and 3rd parties engaged in IT procurement and development to ensure compliance
* Keep abreast with developments in the IT industry to ensure solution architectures are kept in line with industry standard and only deviate for added value and benefit purposes

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential

Education:
* A degree in IT or a related business topic
* Certified or highly knowledgeable in TOGAF
* MCSE
* N+ & A+
* Network Certification e.g. Cisco or CCNP or CCDP

Skills/Aptitudes:
* Ability to develop technical contributions to the IT Strategy, Technical Architecture and Roadmaps that align with organisational goals, objectives and plans
* Able to manage technical projects from conception to implementation and review
* Ability to translate business process and requirements into successful IT solution designs and work with IT and non IT staff and 3rd parties to transition successfully to business use
* Proficiency in using techniques for structured reviews of business requirements, functional specifications, solution designs, technical documents and technical test plans and scripts

Knowledge/Experience:
* Experience of working with IT Strategy, Architecture and Roadmaps to ensure goals, objectives, targets and critical success factors are a constant focus and delivered accordingly
* Significant experience in developing and supporting IT solutions and providing integrated IT that operates on the core technologies in use e.g. Microsoft AD, RDP, CRM, SharePoint, Exchange, O365 and SQL Power BI, Databases, Virtualisation with HyperV, VMWare, Vcloud and Azure, Voice and Data Networks, Security, Desktops, Applications, Web, Applications and Storage Hosting and New Generation IT
* Strong experience in managing and working with 3rd parties, particularly application, telephony network, Vcloud and web development providers
* Knowledge of Design Authority processes and operations and of working within such a framework
* Strong systems analysis, design, testing, release and deployment skills and experience
* Database management, tuning and SQL server administration experience

Knowledge/Experience:
* Knowledge and experience in supporting SAP Financials, HR Systems, Pension Systems
* CRM, SharePoint or Power BI
Salary: 50000 per annum
