Job description:
We require an individual with Business Analysis skills to work 37 hours per week from end of March up until beginning of July 2017. The Business Analyst will be required to work on a number of IT projects which are already underway. They will be required to prioritise their workload and manage the time spent on each project accordingly, providing updates when needed to the relevant project and programme managers and the Business Analysis manager. The candidate will need the following key skills:
* Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing highly technical, specialist and complex information with a range of audiences
* Ability to prepare and communicate technical/professional documents e.g. Business requirements specification
* Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
* Ability to quickly understand and absorb information about unfamiliar systems and situations
* Ability to lead and work in a variety of forums such as workshops
* Confidence and credibility to communicate, influence and constructively challenge people at all levels and from differing backgrounds
* Ability to inform Project Manager(s) about progress with allocated work packages including updates on task status, project issues, risks and dependencies
* Excellent time management skills
* Attention to detail

The types of activities that are carried out at this level are listed below:

Gathering Customer requirements for the introduction of new and replacement systems
and system upgrades.
- Identifying and engaging with key stakeholders
- Use of information gathering techniques such as workshops, face-to-face interviews and research
- Defining reporting requirements and specifications
- Documentation of requirements in a format acceptable and comprehensible to both customers and technical IT staff
- Analysis, presentation and sign-off of requirements
Process Analysis
- Documenting 'as is' processes
- Mapping processes to new IT functionality
- Getting agreement for any process re-engineering required
- Documenting 'to be' processes

Supporting introduction of new systems/system upgrades
- Devising user acceptance test plans
- Supporting users during testing including login issues and following to resolution
- Supporting delivery of requirements by monitoring and evaluating the implementation of specialist solutions to ensure business requirements are met
- Production of user guides
- Development of bespoke processes to facilitate technical solution rollout Options Appraisal
- Research and documentation of how systems are currently used
- Research into available solutions
- Mapping of requirements to solutions
- Evaluate and recommend solutions which meet business requirements
- Presentation of options and recommendations to the customer

Project tasks
- Keeping time recording systems up to date in a timely manner
- Providing input to the project manager to support development Project plans including identifying the resources, risks, issues, implications and costs required to deliver specialist solutions

Customer Support
- Assist in the assessment and selection of suitable solutions
- Ensure recommended solutions are compatible or compliant with existing systems, policy, process and procedures
- Ability to provide advice and guidance on legislation, policies and procedures relating to business requirements
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and grievances
- Ability to engage with customers who are hostile to change or uncomfortable with the changes in use of IT solutions

- Carry out Ad-hoc research and analysis as required by the Project Manager
- The post holder will organise their own workload within the framework of the scheduled tasks and work packages assigned to them.
- The post holder will ensure that allocated work meets deadlines and is of a high standard.
- The post holder will provide regular feedback to the project manager showing progress against outstanding tasks

Experience of working in Local Government would be an advantage.
