Job description:
Our client, deals with two government funded function halls based in Rushmere st Andrew and is currently looking for 2 permanent, part time Cleaners / Caretakers.

ROLE - Each part time service provider role (Caretaker/Cleaner) will include:-

a) Cleaning and service restoration duties for the Village Hall and Tower Hall, Rushmere St Andrew.

b) Opening and locking-up of Village Hall and Tower Hall before and after use (where necessary).


* Hours cover the periods 6am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and 6am to 12.30am on Friday to Saturday on a 3 week part time rota of early and late shifts.

* This rota includes one week off in three and two weekends off in three.

* Although not always regular or scheduled within those periods, there must be sufficient effort to cover day-to-day usage of the halls.

* Each post holder will need to liaise with the other, and time has been built into the rota for handover,

* It is anticipated the effort required for the above tasks averages 19 hours per person per week for two weeks out of three (subject to periodical revue).

* The post holders will be required to carry out normal duties on 12 days in every 14 followed by 7 days off.

* The post holders may, if required, be provided with a mobile phone when on duty to cover duty of care when lone working to enable them to be contacted during their rota hours.

* Each post holder will be required to cover others during periods of annual leave or sickness leave, up to full time if necessary.



* When halls are in use for casual hirers, provide a 'meet and greet' service to unlock car park and main doors as required for access. On termination of access period, carry out closure checks and ensure building and car park is secure.

* NOTE: Some trusted regular users carry out the above themselves, but occasional random checks of the premises must be carried out to ensure regular users are complying with their obligations.

Heating & Lighting

* Ensure heating, internal and external lighting operate correctly, report and log failures.

* Log and carry out regular tests of emergency lighting.


* Ensure all facilities are cleaned to a defined standard following lettings and before further use of the Halls.

* Ensure consumables are re-stocked as required e.g. soap, toilet rolls, and paper towels

* Ensure hall and kitchen equipment is correctly stored and clean after use.


* Ensure entrance, grounds and car parks are free from debris/litter.

* Check operation of external lighting and report failures.

Routine Maintenance

* Log and carry out certain weekly/monthly/annual checks to comply with Health and safety requirements.

* During periods of low use of the halls, carry out deep cleaning/maintenance on a cyclic basis.

Liaison with Hirers, Contractors and Delivery Agents

* Provide a 'Meet and Greet' service to casual hirers to explain the facilities and regulations.

* Be available to take deliveries and provide building access to maintenance contractors as required.

Performance Monitoring

* The post holders will be required to submit time sheets and participate in periodic performance reviews, which will be a two-way process giving the post holders an opportunity to express their views on any aspect of the operation of the halls and management committee as well as receive comments on their performance.
