Hunterskill Recruitment are looking for an Electrician in the NE1 area.

Job Title: Electrician

Report To: Trade Supervisor/EQS

A. Job Purpose

To carry out electrical reactive and planned maintenance works to all internal & external clients.

The post is based within a dedicated geographical area within The Property Services Division and is responsible for the provision of a high quality customer focused repair service.

Work activity will depend on location, but will normally fall into the categories of void properties, general responsive repair and maintenance, adaptations or modernisation.

Operating over a 40 hour working week.

Key Accountabilities:

* Carry out electrical work in domestic, commercial buildings, including consumer unit changes, electrical rewires, wiring Upgrades, minor works repairs, emergency lighting and fault finding.

* To be fully conversant with domestic electrical installations and have a good understanding of 3 phase systems.

* The Post holder will be conversant with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the current edition BS 7671, associated guidance material as Prescribed by the Health and Safety Executive, British Standards, Electrical Safety First, Building regulations, industry best practice and the NICEIC.

* Carry out periodic inspection and testing and completion of the necessary test certification in accordance with IEE Wiring Regulations. Also to complete other electrical certification where required.

* Ensure compliance with the BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations and the EAWR 1989 at all times.

* To undertake testing of all portable and fixed electrical equipment (PAT Testing) if suitably qualified.

* Carry out and complete all works to high quality and in a competent manner and with the property being left in a clean and tidy condition.

* To work with, and provide information relating to technical matters, to anyone in the group as directed by the Trade Supervisor.

* To liaise with other staff, Trade Supervisors, Neighbourhood Officers and Sub-contractors as necessary to ensure the timely completion of works within agreed operational targets KPI`s.

* Ensure accurate and timely completion of all paperwork including job tickets and time sheets and ensure this is passed to your Trade Supervisor within agreed timescales.

* To accept, progress and complete accurately all works allocated via the mobile working device (PDAs / Netbooks / iPhone / iPads).

* Ensure that any required qualifications for your position remain valid and to ensure that any necessary training is notified to the EQS/Trade Supervisor and arranged and undertaken within the specified timescales.

* To attend meetings, monthly toolbox talks, training sessions and conferences as required.

* To act at all times in accordance with the Group's rules, policies, procedures and financial regulations.

* The post holder must observe and comply with the Group's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

* Is well versed in the inspection, testing, verification, certification and reporting procedures for the range of electrical work required to Places for People properties.

* The post holder is subject to periodic audit assessment as deemed necessary by any of the company's NICEIC EQS`s with a minimum of one audit per calendar month.

B. Dimensions

* The post is part of the Property Maintenance division providing repair services up to 20,000 properties in the Business Unit.
* Reporting directly to the relevant Trade Supervisor
* The post holder will be required to undertake electrical work on void and occupied properties
* To participate in the Group's out of hour's emergency service (24hrs) when required on a rota system.
* In some areas the stock is concentrated in one locality in others it is widely dispersed.
* The post holder will be required to undertake other duties from time to time as is reasonably required. They may also be required from time to time to visit and work at such other locations and for such times as is considered necessary for the proper performance of our duties.

A. Additional Information
i) Context/Environment

* The post is part of the Property Maintenance division; the role of the post within the team is to ensure that customers receive an effective day to day repairs service.
* Post holder will have to respond to emergency repair situations and be able to effectively deal with customers at such times.
ii) Problem Solving/Decision Making

* Post holder will be required to respond to emergency repairs, sometimes outside office hours. This may require independent decisions to be taken to ensure the safety of customers.
* Post holder may be involved in investigating and responding to customer queries / complaints.

iii) Skills/Knowledge/Experience

* Is conversant with the Electricity at Work Regulations BS 7671, associated guidance material as prescribed by NICEIC, appropriate British Standards and other Industry Codes of Practice.
* Is well versed in the inspection, testing, verification, certification and reporting procedures for the range of electrical work required to Places for People properties.
* The post holder will need to be technically competent and must hold appropriate trade qualifications as detailed below:
